A rewarding and lengthy career with the Town of Oakville and a successful term as Ward 2 Councillor combined with a continued personal commitment to serving area organizations, associations, and boards has meant that Ray has been involved with numerous local milestone achievements. Working with community members or leading staff teams, Ray has always demonstrated strong leadership and embraced a collaborative approach as evident by the initiatives listed below:

  • 100% opposed to any development of the Glen Abbey Golf Course
  • Worked collaboratively with Council to complete the new Lakeshore bridge
  • Supported the completion of the Trafalgar Park Community Centre
  • Championed the relocation and the development of the new Fire Hall on Kerr Street
  • Stepped up the timeline for the commencement of the Kerr Street underpass project
  • Aided in the successful initiation of the Speers Road improvements
  • Supported a new pedestrian crossover on Speers Road
  • Proposed a new lot maintenance by law (approved)
  • Negotiated a successful operating agreement between the Town of Oakville and the Oakville Arts Council
  • Initiated, through Tourism Oakville, the Oakville Ambassador Program
  • Project managed Oakville’s first nationally recognized Skateboard Park
  • Introduced the Zero Tolerance Initiative branded as the “RZone” program for all Town of Oakville facilities and playing fields
  • Introduced the first “Automatic Defibrillator Program” to all Town of Oakville facilities
  • Introduced the first public fitness program/facility for the Town of Oakville
  • Collaborated with the Community Millennium Organizing Committee to stage the Millennium celebrations for the Town of Oakville
  • Collaborated with the Millennium Organizing Committee for the construction and erection of the downtown clock to celebrate 2000
  • Coordinated the 150th celebrations for the Town of Oakville
  • Worked with Oakville residents to introduce the first indoor municipal bocce court in Oakville
  • Initiated the Oakville Community Spirits Awards
  • Introduced the Quality Assurance Program for all Town of Oakville children’s programming
  • Negotiated and managed the transfer of the Halton District School Board indoor pools to the Town of Oakville
  • Responsible for the development of a comprehensive operating agreement between the Town of Oakville and Oakville’s Sir John Colborne Recreation Centre for Senior’s and Kerr St. Seniors Recreation Centre.
  • Collaborated with youth representative Sarah Burton, the Rotary Clubs, and church affiliates to officially open the first youth centre in Oakville
  • Directed the introduction of the “Make Your Move” campaign which is now the Town of Oakville’s official physical activity strategy
  • Assisted with the start up of Oakville’s new Speed Skating Club.
  • Previously responsible for the administrative operations of the Oakville Performing Art Centre and Erchless Musuem.
