Ray Chisholm, a former Town of Oakville employee who is chair of Visit Oakville, is vying for a seat on the Oakville Town Council next year.
Chisholm announced in December he will be running in the upcoming by-election for Ward 2.
The seat is vacant after Pam Damoff was sworn in last month as the new Member of Parliament (MP) for the new Oakville North—Burlington riding.
